Rhodochrosite (Tumbled)

These are beautiful tumbles stones! Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate, the name referring to the Greek work for its rose-red color. Most Rhodochrosite is in the pink to red color range, but it can also be yellowish, orange, or brown.

Fun Fact! The most important deposit is in Argentina, where Rhodochrosite formed in the Incan Silver mines after they were abandoned in the 13th Century (*The Book of Stones; Who they Are & What They Teach by Robert Simmons & Naisha Ahsian)
