Labradorite’s name is derived from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada where the stone was first founded in 1770. It is known for its remarkable play of color also known as labradorescense, which shows vivid flashes of green, blue, gold, orange, red and sometimes violet. Fun fact! Labradorites were discovered in Finland in the 1940s that exhibit at the entire color spectrum, and these were named Spectrolite.
