Detroit Agate (Fordite) Necklace - Electroformed Copper
Born from the golden age of American automobiles, the Detroit Agate necklace is a piece of history captured in copper. Each one is crafted from genuine Fordite—layers of hardened automotive paint that once built up on the racks and walls of car factories. Over decades, these vibrant layers were baked and compacted, then polished into stunning, one-of-a-kind patterns that resemble natural agate.
A fusion of art, history, and sustainability, Detroit Agate transforms remnants of the factory floor into modern wearable relics of American craftsmanship.
Designed and handcrafted in Asheville, North Carolina by Merging Metals.

About Electroforming:
Electroforming is a slow, intentional process in which copper is grown around natural materials using electricity and time. Because the metal forms organically, each piece may show subtle variations or small, perfect imperfections. Copper will naturally deepen in color over time, adding to the character of the piece.
