Idocrase also known as Gem Vesuvianite is a calcium aluminum magnesium silicate mineral. It’s color can be green, purple, red, white, brown or yellow although it’s most commonly known for green. It’s also found in association with minerals such as calcite, Epidote, Garnet and Diopside. It was first discovered on Mt. Vesuvius in Italy, hence it’s name, although it’s also been found in Canada, Vermont and Maine.
