Rubellite is the pink to red variety of tourmaline, colored by trace elements within its crystal structure. This specimen from Minas Gerais, Brazil pairs rich pink-red rubellite crystals with quartz and silvery-lavender lepidolite. This combination of minerals is also popularly known in the mineral trade as Unicorn Stone, with this specimen showing the material in its natural, unpolished form.

One side features numerous exposed rubellite crystals scattered throughout the pale quartz matrix, while the reverse reveals broad, reflective sheets of lepidolite alongside additional quartz and partially embedded tourmaline. The contrast between the deep pink crystals, translucent quartz, and reflective mica gives this specimen a distinctly different appearance from every angle.
