Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminum oxide. Its color comes primarily from trace amounts of chromium, with natural ruby ranging from pinkish red to deep red.

This natural rough crystal has a distinct elongated form with a rich reddish-purple color and areas of natural matrix remaining along one side.
