In the Spotlight: Temple of Life Oils & Perfumes

Take a few moments out of your day, relax, and read along as we share with you our interview with Lisa Rojas of Temple of Life Oils & Perfumes.

Answer: At Temple of Life, our WHY is to boost health & happiness with masterfully blended aromatherapy for the sanctuaries within our body, home & practice. I built my company from my healing passions within, as well as from my educational accomplishments as an aromist apothecary, herbalist & massage therapist. I offer authentic aromas and remedies made with top-notch ingredients that are truly one-of-a-kind & therapeutic. I also showcase desirable perfumes that leave people smiling and fill the need for a long-lasting, clean fragrance.

2. Question [When did you first start your journey? Was there anything special that sparked your interest in this field?]

Answer: I discovered herbal medicine in my 20's and that led to a holistic lifestyle and studying many more aspects of natural medicine including aromatherapy.

3. Question [What inspires you and your creative process?]

Answer: My customers inspire me the most. Whether it's them asking for a unique blend that I would have never thought of which I then have to create, seeing their enjoyment after sniffing an aroma, or hearing about how a remedy has helped them feel better.

4. Question [Do you have any formal training or are you self-taught? What's a unique skill that sets you apart?]

Answer: I have many herbal and aromatherapy certificates under my belt taught by old school herbalists and aromatherapists, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Herbal Science form Bastyr University. I've become skilled at blending cohesive and therapeutic aromatherapy blends.

5. Question [In what way does where you live influence your work?]

Answer: The clear blue skies of the Nevada desert help with clarity and relaxation so that I can have a clear mind to create formulas and produce products.

6. Question [Do you have a favorite product you make?  What makes it special to you?]

Answer: My favorite aromatherapy blends are Daily Om, Positive Breath, & Now & Zen. They are popular one-of-a-kind scents and I love the array of oils in them.

7. Question [What have you accomplished that you're most proud of?]

Answer: After operating a local brick-and-mortar store for 13 years, I have transitioned to exclusively online retail and wholesale. I cherished the moments spent in my shop and interacting with customers, but I am excited about this change, and that I am able to continue creating and selling my product line.

8. Question [What advice would you give to aspiring makers out there?]

Answer: Believe in yourself! Find a good mentor to help you along the process of growing your business.

9. Question [What are you currently working on and excited to make next?]

Answer: Perfumed body oils and layered scents to enable the wearer to customize a signature fragrance!

When I realized our initial business of selling crystals and minerals was evolving into something more, I started making a list of things I wanted to be part of our offerings going forward. I had already looked into perfume oils and kept returning to Temple of Life Exotic Perfumes, but I was still selling online and out of our home. I was limited to what I could offer as I felt some things would simply sell better if they could be felt, tasted, or in this case, smelled.  So I held off. When we finally opened our brick & mortar location I knew exactly where to turn. Lisa’s Exotic Perfume Oils were one of the first things I stocked, and I’m delighted to say they have remained one of our top 3 best selling products since opening! - Moony Musk is hands down the most sought after in the shop. I personally favor Spiced Umber, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. :)
