Dendritic Opal sometimes referred to as White Dendritic Agate or the trade name "Merlinite", gets its name from a Greek word meaning tree-like, which is descriptive for the stones. They are usually colorless, white, or gray, though some are a light purple(as seen within some of these) ,with tree-like or fern-like inclusions of iron or manganese.
